Visit with your school

Art enriches, inspires wonder, and connects. Especially in a group. Visit the KMSKA with an enthusiastic guide or by using the convenient do-it-yourself package. Because experiencing art is even more engaging together with your class.
ArtFactFinders. Making the Invisible Visible

ArtFactFinders. Making the Invisible Visible

From 28 March, children unravel our art mysteries as keen detectives. Layer by layer, they examine paintings and objects. Your class discovers how artists created their works of art, why a sculpture was damaged, and delves into the science of the restoration studio.

More about your class visit to the exhibition
What does art mean to you? And is it the same for everyone? The programme for schools starts from the lived world of your class.

From kindergarten to secondary education. Be amazed by an interactive visit full of movement, variety, and dialogue. Complemented by an active workshop moment, sometimes in the studio spaces, sometimes in the museum galleries. Prefer to guide your class through the museum yourself? Then be sure to explore the convenient do-it-yourself packages.

Prepare smartly

This way, you won’t be caught by surprise.

Keep it calm

The supervisor is responsible for the group and will be addressed by Heritage Security if the group does not follow the visitor regulations.

Arrive at the museum fifteen minutes before the start

That way, you’ll still have plenty of time for a toilet visit. Booked a guided tour? The guide will come and pick you up in the reception area.

Cloakroom

Backpacks, bags, and suitcases larger than A3 format, as well as umbrellas, are not allowed in the museum. That is why we provide cloakroom space per class. The museum is not responsible for theft. Therefore, leave unnecessary belongings at school or on the bus. This also shortens the waiting time for your visit.

Name stickers

The guide sets out with groups of 12 pupils. With name stickers, both the tour and the workshop run smoothly and personally. Distribute the stickers and form the groups before you arrive at the museum. That way, you save time again.

You cannot have lunch in the museum

But do be sure to explore the museum garden during lunchtime. There are plenty of benches to enjoy your meal together. And feel free to let off some steam in the play lawns. Meanwhile, take a look at all those artful sculptures … Because the museum garden is actually the very first museum gallery.

A visit doesn’t have to be expensive

Read these tips before you come to the museum with your class.

Always make a reservation

Guided tour with or without a guide: always make a reservation. That way, you are assured of a smooth visit. When it is very busy, we unfortunately sometimes have to refuse groups without a reservation.

Free for students and their supervisor!

The school only pays for the guide. We recommend booking 1 guide per 12 children. If you want to come with a slightly larger group, we can accommodate up to 15 children. Is your class bigger? Then reserve two or more guides.

Preschool Menu and Special Menu

KMSKA is a member of the Preschool Menu and Special Menu. Schools in Antwerp can apply for a subsidy to visit the museum with the third kindergarten class or equivalent groups from special education.

Come for free by bus or tram

With dynamoOPWEG, schools can travel for free by De Lijn bus or tram according to their regular schedule to the museum and back. Apply for your subsidy
