Date:

What creates a sense of tranquillity in an image? When does a composition feel balanced? And what role does the space between forms play?

During this in-depth three-hour workshop, you’ll gather inspiration from the works of Philip Aguirre y Otegui. Together with artist-tutor Griet Verschueren from Atelier Pium, you’ll explore the exhibition, observing closely and sketching shapes, lines and compositions. Afterwards, you’ll get to work in the studio with paper, colour and collage.

By cutting, arranging, combining and omitting elements, you’ll explore how simple shapes can reinforce one another. You’ll discover how colour, rhythm and space can convey tension, harmony or, rather, stillness in an image.

This workshop is an invitation to slow down, observe and experiment. No prior knowledge is required; curiosity and a desire to create are all you need.
