Discover the fascinating world of colour, form and abstraction during this creative workshop, inspired by the work of Guy Vandenbranden.
We start with a visit to the exhibition and explore Vandenbranden’s journey from figuration to abstraction. How do you create tension with simple forms? What can colour say without words? And how does meaning emerge from lines, planes and rhythm? Armed with a sketchbook, we collect shapes, compositions and colour combinations that catch our eye along the way. We then head to the studio, where we get to work ourselves. We cut geometric shapes from cardboard and paper, add colour with acrylic paint and experiment with composition and balance.
After a group exercise, everyone creates their own abstract work. By shifting, combining and layering shapes, you discover how a personal visual story can emerge from geometry and colour. At the end of the workshop, you go home with a unique acrylic collage and a fresh perspective on abstract art.
