Diverse dates and times

During this technical workshop, we will explore the fascinating world of Ossip Zadkine and focus particularly on the ‘Taille Directe’ sculpting technique. Using this method, Zadkine created his sculptures directly from the chosen material, without a pre-prepared model.
The workshop begins with a guided tour of the exhibition, during which participants will be introduced to Zadkine’s artistic vision and formal language. We will then get to work in the studio itself with a piece of soapstone. Using a rasp, file and all manner of other carving and sanding tools, we will gradually shape our own sculpture, taking the existing form and structure of our stone as our starting point. In this way, just like Zadkine, we leave room for an intuitive dialogue between ourselves as sculptors and the stone.
This workshop invites you to look closely, feel and create. No experience is required; curiosity, patience and a desire to work hands-on are all you need.
