Guided tour - 'Beeldspraak'

Guided tour for Years 4, 5 and 6 of secondary school

Seen your colour? Have a taste.

Pupils discover how images speak: from recognisable depictions to free expression. They explore how art conveys meaning and is connected to the world of today.

Contents

Why is art still necessary?
What role does it play today?

Doubt is our starting point.
Critical questions guide us.

As they explore the museum, pupils discover art as a voice in society.
They discover how art evolves from clearly recognisable images to freer, more personal forms of expression.
Reality is let go of, distorted or rearranged.

This becomes evident within the KMSKA. Old and new masters stand side by side, creating a dialogue between different eras. From image to speech. From figurative to abstract.
A dialogue between then and now, in which pupils discover what changes, but also what remains the same.

Purpose

Pupils analyse and interpret images as carriers of meaning within their social and historical context.
