Activity
KMSKA LATE – Opening Trailblazers of the Abstract
Category:
Nocturne

The exhibition Trailblazers of the Abstract. De Stijl versus Modern Art Circle brings together the Antwerp avant-garde movement and De Stijl. Discover how geometric abstract art shaped the early 20th century and pursued cross-border ideals.
In collaboration with the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, the exhibition showcases drawings, paintings, architectural designs, graphic works, and furniture by artists such as Theo van Doesburg, Cornelis van Eesteren, Jozef Peeters, and Vilmos Huszár. These works highlight how Antwerp’s community-based art and De Stijl complemented each other while also differing in their approach to abstraction.
