KMSKA LATE talks - Jef Van Campen

Date:

LAAT Talks is a series of conversations with promising artists, organized in collaboration with prominent art galleries.
At KMSKA, the permanent collection focuses on the Old and Modern Masters. In addition, the museum also excels with a wide range of temporary exhibitions, keeping a finger on the pulse of current movements and the spirit of the times.
With these conversations, KMSKA provides a platform for emerging artists. Old and modern art serves as a source of inspiration in their artistic practice.
For this edition, auctioneer in Antwerp and KMSKA guide Rik Dupain will speak with Jef Van Campen, whose solo exhibition Jef, a life runs at vcrb gallery until 25 January 2026.
Bio
Jef Van Campen (b. 1934) breathes the harbor. For more than seventy years, the rhythm of docks, locks, cranes, and ships has shaped the resonant core of his artistic practice. In his paintings and watercolors, he captures the interplay of light, water, and steel with a precision that is at once powerful and poetic. The port of Antwerp is never merely a backdrop in his work: it is a living world, full of movement and quiet beauty, one he continually rediscovers.
