KMSKA LATE talks - Renato Nicolodi

LAAT Talks is a series of conversations with promising artists, organized in collaboration with leading art galleries.
At KMSKA, the permanent collection focuses on the Old Masters and the Modern Masters. In addition, the museum also excels in presenting a wide range of temporary exhibitions. These keep a finger on the pulse of current developments in the world and the spirit of the times.
With these conversations, KMSKA offers a platform to emerging artists. Old and modern art serve as a source of inspiration in their artistic practice.
For this edition, curator Annelien De Troij enters into conversation with Renato Nicolodi, whose solo exhibition Architectura Discordiae is on view at Galerie Axel Vervoordt until 21 March 2026.
Bio
Renato Nicolodi (b. 1980, Brussels) studied at the Sint-Lukas School in Brussels and later at HISK in Ghent. Through his work, he seeks to evoke a universal sense of sacrality. His sculptures and paintings depict spaces with corridors and staircases leading to sealed passages. Light and shadow draw the viewer’s gaze toward the interior of the structure, which remains unseen. At the core of the work, a kind of emptiness seems to be preserved.
