The human and its environment
How does our body relate to space? In this intensive workshop, you will dive deep into the world of the world-renowned sculptor Antony Gormley. Under the guidance of artist and guide Ihor Biloushchenko, you will explore how a sculpture can be more than just an object: it becomes a vessel of space, weight, and consciousness. The workshop begins with a guided observation in the exhibition Geestgrond. You will analyze how Gormley translates the human form into abstract constructions using simplicity and repetition. Then it’s your turn.

Using a mix of materials such as wire, aluminum, and cardboard, you will design and build your own sculpture. The focus is on posture, presence, and the dialogue between form and emptiness. The result? A unique spatial object that makes the interaction between body and environment tangible.
