Workshop Mixed Media - The Citadel

Building history, power, and memory
How do you give shape to the layers of time? In this workshop, you will dive into the world of fortresses, ruins, and defensive structures. We draw inspiration from the exhibition The Fall of Alba’s Citadel, where images from turbulent times take center stage. Here, a citadel is much more than a pile of stones; it is a symbol of power, resistance, and human experience. Under the expert guidance of artist and guide Ihor Biloushchenko, you will first explore the exhibition and the permanent collection. Then, you will transform these historical impressions into your own contemporary artwork.

Using materials such as air-dry clay, wire, and insulation material, you will design and build an architectural sculpture. You will combine elements from different periods—from robust castle walls to refined Renaissance forms—and assemble them into a compact citadel or a suggestive ruin. The result? A unique spatial object that engages in a dialogue between the past and your own creative vision.
