In Full Bloom
Date:

From 30 April to 10 May 2026, the KMSKA will surprise visitors with the special exhibition In Full Bloom. Throughout the galleries dedicated to old and modern masters, an extraordinary encounter unfolds between contemporary floral art and the museum’s collection. For eleven days, florists will engage in dialogue with paintings and sculptures from various periods of art history. The result? A remarkable cross-pollination between flowers and images, brought to life through authentic, one-of-a-kind floral installations.
The exhibition rejects clichés and takes a bold approach to themes such as transience and eternity. It draws on art-historical symbols and evocative associations. As carriers of meaning, the fragile yet powerful flowers contrast with the silent monumentality of the museum’s spaces. Together, they create a striking dynamic.
Each florist is given the freedom to develop a personal interpretation inspired by a specific work of art or a carefully chosen location within the museum. The result appeals to all the senses, offering a unique opportunity to experience masterpieces from the permanent collection through the fresh perspective of floral artists.
For this exhibition, the KMSKA is collaborating with guest curator Gert Voorjans. The internationally renowned Belgian interior designer and scenographer is known for his layered style and iconic collaborations. He creates immersive experiences where objects, space, symbolism, and emotion engage in meaningful dialogue. His approach aligns perfectly with the KMSKA’s ambition to connect the old and the new while focusing on innovative experiences for the public.
