Art as a companion on a journey of self-discovery

Artist in Residence Jaouad Alloul explores in the short film ‘11:33 - What if everything you were taught is wrong’ the process of self-discovery he himself went through.
A reflection, a mirror, revolving around the dogma that manifests itself in every monotheistic religion. The spotlight is on the individual who suffers under this dogma. For this, he uses the — then still — empty halls of the museum.
Jaouad is aware that the many screens in our lives are an ideal way to further enrich our minds with culture. While he tries to give a voice to people who struggle with their gender and identity and aims to raise awareness for LGBT+ rights in Islam and beyond, he is convinced that film is an ideal way to talk about these challenging topics.
