KMSKA LATE - Artist talk - Antony Gormley & Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev

Category:

Talk

Date:

17 September 2026 from 20:00 to 21:00
Following the exhibition Antony Gormley. Geestgrond, artist Antony Gormley joins curator Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev for a conversation. Together, they explore the ideas that underpin Gormley’s work: the body as a site of experience, our relationship with space and matter, and the way in which art invites us to look at ourselves and the world differently.

Taking the exhibition at the KMSKA as its starting point, an open conversation unfolds on perception, imagination and consciousness, as well as on the role of art in an era of constant change. This artist talk offers a unique opportunity to experience Gormley’s work through the artist’s own words, in dialogue with the curator, who places his oeuvre within a broader artistic, cultural and social context.

About the speakers

Antony Gormley is one of the most influential artists of his generation. His sculptures and installations explore the relationship between the human body, space and collectivity. With iconic works displayed around the world, he invites us to look differently at ourselves, our surroundings and our place within them.

Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev is an internationally renowned curator and author, known for her in-depth exhibitions and her ability to connect art with philosophy, ecology, science and social issues. Her conversation with Gormley promises to be an inspiring exchange of ideas on art, the human condition and the challenges of our time.
