Manja of de zeven lagen der ziltheid

The museum’s restored artworks served as the inspiration for a new story by Artist in Residence Dimitri Leue, featuring striking illustrations by elineveer, also known as Eline Van Eerdenbrugh.
Manja tells the story from the perspective of a restorer, who, while restoring the paintings, finds herself compelled to restore her own life as well. She gathers all her courage, removes layer after layer, and perseveres despite numerous setbacks and moments of profound despair.

The drawings
Eline Van Eerdenbrugh, also known as elineveer, created the striking drawings for the story, also inspired by the KMSKA collection. She conjures a new world, reflecting the narrator’s own longing for a reality different from the one they inhabit.
