KMSKA LATE Talks – Mircea Suciu in collaboration with Keteleer Gallery

During LATE TALKS promising artists are in the spotlight. In an intimate setting, they discuss their practice, their motivations, and the role of art today. How do they relate to tradition? What traces do the Old and Modern Masters leave in their work? And how do they translate that legacy into a contemporary visual language? LATE TALKS creates space for exchange and deeper exploration. No detached lectures, but lively conversations where ideas clash, perspectives shift, and new insights emerge. Here you’ll meet artists at a turning point in their careers: passionate, inquisitive, and in dialogue with a rich past.With this series, KMSKA offers a platform to a new generation of artists and strengthens its connection to the contemporary art field. LATE TALKS bridges the gap between eras, between practices, and between people.

During this edition, curator Lisa van Garven will be in conversation with Mircea Suciu, following his solo exhibition, which runs until 20 June at Keteleer Gallery.

Mircea Suciu (1978, Baia Mare, Romania) lives and works in Cluj-Napoca. In his work, he explores the tensions between figuration and abstraction, addressing themes such as power, violence, fear and historical memory. Having grown up in communist Romania, he developed a critical perspective on the influence of images and propaganda, which forms an important basis for his art. Using a layered technique combining monotype, oil and acrylic paint, he merges historical, photographic and contemporary images into powerful compositions that connect the past and the present. His work is exhibited internationally and forms part of the contemporary debate on history, identity and social change.
