Tour with or without guide: always book in advance
- Always book your guided tour in advance. Please also reserve if you plan to visit the museum without a guide. This ensures a smooth visit. When it is very busy, we sometimes have to turn away groups without a reservation. And of course, we prefer not to do that.
- Children in a school group and their supervisors receive free admission to the museum. The school only pays for the guide. We recommend booking 1 guide per 12 children. If your group is slightly larger, we can accommodate up to 15 children. Is your class bigger? Then please reserve two or more guides.
- KMSKA is part of the Kleutermenu and Buitengewoonmenu. Schools in Antwerp can apply for a grant to bring third kindergarten classes or equivalent groups from special education to the museum.
Prepare smartly
- With dynamoOPWEG, schools can travel to and from the museum by bus or tram from De Lijn free of charge using the existing timetable. Apply for your subsidy.
- If possible, arrive at the museum about 15 minutes before the start of your tour. This gives plenty of time for a bathroom visit before the guide meets you in the reception area. The guide will also take you past a group cloakroom where you can store all your belongings.
- Backpacks, bags, and suitcases larger than A3 size, as well as umbrellas, are not allowed in the museum. Don’t worry: you will have a secure cloakroom space exclusively for your class. The museum is not responsible for theft. The less luggage you bring, the safer and smoother your visit will be. Leave unnecessary items at school or on the bus to shorten waiting time for the visit.
- The guide works with groups of 12 students. We recommend giving each student a name sticker. This makes the tour and the workshop session more personal and efficient. Distribute the stickers and form the groups before arriving at the museum to save time.
- If you are guiding your class yourself through the museum, be sure to use our handy free DIY kits.
- The supervising adult is responsible for the group and will be addressed by the Heritage Security if the group does not follow the visitor regulations.
Discover and experience the museum
- KMSKA aims to amaze, connect, and enrich you. That’s why you are welcome to play, laugh, chat, and have fun. Want to draw with your class? You can use our clipboards, paper, and pencils, which are available in the introduction rooms. Please return them after your visit, and do not draw or write on exhibition materials or walls. We worked so hard on the beautiful renovation…
- You cannot have lunch inside the museum, but be sure to explore the new museum garden during midday. There are plenty of benches for a cozy meal, and feel free to play in the playgrounds. Take a moment to admire all the artistic sculptures… the museum garden is actually the first museum gallery.
- And the most important thing? Look, experience, and let yourself be inspired…
