Waldeinsamkeit – peepshow by Benjamin Verdonck and Lucas van Haesbroeck
Waldeinsamkeit is a poetic peepshow by theatre maker and visual artist Benjamin Verdonck. The German word refers to the deep sense of connection you can feel when alone in the forest, but also to the unease of a dark, unpredictable space.
Within this intimate Wunderkammer, a slow and meditative play unfolds between light and darkness, large and small, near and far. Using wooden panels, sliders and strings, Verdonck transforms one room into another – again and again – until everything tilts and shifts. What begins simply gradually becomes a sensory experience filled with tension, stillness and wonder.
Small in scale, yet vast in experience, Waldeinsamkeit invites you to pause, to look, and to be carried along in an abstract, moving visual poem that lingers.
