Lecture: Brueghel’s Proverbs
On Science Day, you’re invited into the conservation studio, where Samuel Mareel, curator of the exhibition, will explain why Brueghel’s Proverbs have remained so popular and influential, and what the many copies can teach us about the original.

Lecture: Rubens's Vermilion
On Science Day, conservator Jantine Maessen-den Brok will explain and demonstrate how art and science come together in caring for Rubens’s masterpiece.

Workshop: In the shoes of a conservator
Works of art sometimes need a little care too. That’s when a conservator steps in! Just like a doctor, they examine the artwork closely: what happened, where is the damage, and what is the best way to treat it?
In this workshop, you’ll step into the shoes of a conservator. You’ll discover how to examine, care for and protect an artwork for the future.
- 11 am to 12.30 pm or 1.30 pm to 3 pm
- Children aged 8+

- Maximum 10 participants
